TURN at Browns Fashion

'“TURN” Residency at Browns Fashion in Mayfair 2023

Turn included 4 new pieces created specially for the installation that are completely monochromatic - in glass this creates an interesting effect because the same glass colour can be darker or lighter depending on its mass. The collection focused on colour and light, and is inspired by the changes in the atmosphere, the transition of seasons and fashion's reaction to that transition. Reminding us that the annual marking of the seasons by the fashion calendar shouldn’t be underestimated in its cultural relevance.

In addition to the 4 monochromatic stacks, there are 4 large sculptures cast in glass. The materials we have used are an unusual combination of coloured glass and crystal, some of which is embedded with metallic nanoparticles that enable the glass to shift in colour and some opaque glass. Each piece is composed of a series of rock-like forms taken from a medieval church, an industrial farm and ammonites and fossilized stone. A combination of reflective and matte surfaces that support the translucent and captivating qualities of the glass were used.

TURN was installed at Browns from 13 February - 20 March 2020 to celebrate London Fashion week.
